POSITION SUMMARY:Tahoma Global Logistics (TGL) is seeking qualified candidates for our Depot Equipment Operator position at our port facility located in Tacoma. Our Equipment Operators utilize a variety of heavy lifting equipment to lift/transport cargo and equipment, stack cargo, and load out from trailer to ground/ ground to trailer. This work is performed using equipment such as or similar to forklifts, top handlers, and side handlers. Must be skilled in the efficient use of this equipment and have a strong focus on safe operations at all times. TGL is a people-oriented company and has a merit-based culture.   • Excellent attendance for all scheduled shifts
  • Safely and effectively operate side pick, top pick, and top loader equipment to move, stack, or retrieve containers
  • Load and unload containers off trucks, or from storage areas with precision and care
  • Perform routine checks on equipment such as side pick, top pick, and top loader for fluid levels, tire condition, and general wear and tear
  • Keep equipment clean and free of debris to ensure optimal performance and ensure all areas of depot are kept clean and free from hazards
  • Report any maintenance needs promptly to the maintenance team or supervisor
  • Follow depot protocols to ensure containers are properly managed, moved, and stored in a safe and efficient manner, to optimize space utilization and prevent damage
  • Assist with container arrivals and departures in coordination with the gate team to ensure smooth operations
  • Communicate effectively with directors, management, supervisors, gate team, other operators, depot administrator, and MNR technicians to prioritize tasks and ensure the timely movement of containers and efficient operations
  • Utilize proper IICL location codes for containers to properly identify areas of concern on damaged equipment arriving at the depot
  • Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and promptly share critical business information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout TGL
  • Coordinate effective teamwork and use all company resources efficiently to promote superior financial results for TGL; maintain TGL equipment and assets to maximize return on investment
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
  • Strictly enforce workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses; consistently wear and utilize all required PPE
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard TGL assets at all times
REQUIREMENTS:Minimum
  • 18 years or older
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license and good driving record
  • 6+ months experience operating side pick, top pick, and/or top loader equipment in a depot or similar setting
  • Good understanding of safety procedures and equipment handling within a depot environment
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand IICL-6 standards for steel container equipment inspection compliance, container estimating, and identification/location of container components
  • Ability to record accurate business data on reports and enter into computerized systems
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Works well in a highly team-focused environment, with good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to problem solve, effectively multi-task, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • PC and MS Office proficiency
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to maintain a positive work attitude and demeanor
  • Culturally sensitive and works well with the full diversity of our company and community
  • Ability to transport self over multi acre work site of varied terrain and climb in/out of equipment
  • Ability to work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass background check
Preferred
  • TWIC and/or any industry related education, training or certifications
