She/he assures the communication and understanding of the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission of the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards, Patient Bill of Rights, Patient Centered Principles and Bellevue Hospital Center Policies and Procedures and their application in practice and care delivery.As a professional and member of Bellevue Hospital's management team, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer exemplifies the behavioral expectation articulated for this role.Responsibilities
  • Directs the development of education programs designed to:
  • Meet clinical and regulatory standard of care
  • Remediate practice weakness identified through performance evaluations actual incidents/ near misses management referrals
  • Advance level practice through current knowledge progress
  • GOAL: Chart audits demonstrated staff ability to document card according to standard
  • Staff able to articulate standards
Emphasize Patient/Family safety in each educational affirming specific emphasis in:Speak up CampaignSentinel Event Alerts and Action Plan/Policy ChangesInfection Control Standards
  • Reviews monthly staff development activities calendar.
GOAL: Educational offerings are commensurate with patient population, skill, needs and regulatory agency requirement.Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or a related field; and
  • Six (6) years of satisfactory nursing experience, including four (4) years of progressive nursing management experience; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have at least a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing, and be licensed and currently registered to practice as an RN in New York State.
