The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for Prince William County, Cities of Manassas & Manassas Park is looking for an experienced prosecutor and leader for the position of Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position supervises Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys and leads one of five units: Violent Crimes, Special Investigations, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Offenders, or Special Victims. The position reports directly to the Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. Duties will include assigning cases to Senior Assistants, handling a full caseload at all levels of Court, serving as “Duty Attorney,” and responding to calls and questions from citizens, law enforcement, and defense counsel; attending relevant training; and engaging with members of the community we serve.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Juris Doctorate degree and 4 years of progressively responsible related experience.
PREFERENCES:
The ideal candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree and 15 years of related experience that includes management and supervisory experience. The selected applicant must manage a heavy caseload, be skilled at legal research and writing, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively in an office that values civility, initiative, sound judgment, and skilled advocacy.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $137,275.00 to $145,000.00/yr.
