This is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. This position requires working 40 hours per week.Summary: The purpose of this position is to perform clerical work, assist the public, and process documentation associatedwith the Clerk of Superior Court. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Assists customers, attorneys, and other agencies with filings, copies of documents, criminal history, court dates, case information, etc., in person, by phone and email.
- Daily data entry of new cases and documents filed.
- Prepare cases for court, go to court and assist judges in court with hearings, pleas, and jury trials.
- Responsible for logging in evidence after a trial.
- Enter dispositions from court in computer in Odyssey.
- Process prison sentences to be transmitted to Department of Corrections.
- Process appeals to Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
- Performs customer service by phone, mail and in person.
- Provides information and assistance regarding court and department activities, services, fees, case status, dispositions or other issues.
- Processes a variety of documentation.
- Receives monies in payment of citations, fees, fines, legal records, and filing civil cases.
- Records transactions, issues receipts, enters payments and dispositions into the computer.
- Assists the public in researching information, locating records, and obtaining copies of County records.
- Maintains file system of various records for the court.
- Processes civil and criminal case documentation, prepares new case files, reviews documentation for completeness.
- Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data. Performs data entry functions.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of college or previous experience and/or training involving general court procedures, general office work, customer service, or related experience is required. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
