Job Description :

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS), the Deputy to the Executive Director for CCPS will oversee the operational efficiency and execution of all academic programs within CCPS, including Adult Learner, corporate, and internationalshort-term programs. This role is responsible for ensuring that courses, faculty recruitment, and program offerings run smoothly, while supporting the implementation of the strategic vision set by the Executive Director. In their absence or unavailability, the role serves as the Executive Directorand attends meetings on their behalf, represents them on committees, and participates independently in high profile external meetings.

The candidate will support the Executive Director in managing the day-to-day operations in CCPS including curriculum development, faculty assignments, and student advisement, ensuring that all programs are delivered in a timely, cost-effective, and student-focused manner. This individual will play a key role in liaising with internal departments and external partners to ensure all programs align with academic standards and the needs of the creative industries. They oversee the continuous improvement of as well as the effective current operations of CCPS offerings at all levels. Key areas include Fashion Design, Accessories Design, Communication Design, Fashion Business Management, and more. The goal is to ensure that CCPS programs run efficiently, meet student needs, and align with institutional goals.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Operational Oversight in Adult Learner Programs

  • Manage the operational aspects of adult learner programs across all modalities, ensuring course schedules, faculty assignments, and curriculum delivery are timely and efficient.
  • Lead efforts to identify new programming opportunities in alignment with the strategic vision while also routinely reviewing previously taught curriculum for continuous improvement.
  • Identify, recruit, and evaluate high-quality industry and academically experienced instructors to meet the learning needs of adults.

Management of Online and Certificate Programs

  • Oversee the launch and operational management of online and certificate programs targeting adult learners, ensuring they are delivered smoothly and meet institutional standards.
  • Partner with academic departments and administrative staff to support program launches and resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure faculty are properly onboarded and supported in the delivery of online and certificate courses.

Corporate Training Programmatic Development

  • Support the creation of custom short and long-term courses for industry clients looking to retool their workforce.
  • Partner with industry contacts to determine innovative programming for this market.
  • Provide oversight to ensure that the corporate programs' outcomes are achieved.

Coordination of CCPS Programs

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of CCPS and corporate training programming, ensuring smooth scheduling, faculty assignments, and student support services.
  • Ensure proper sequencing and availability of courses, providing students with clear guidance on course pathways and academic advisement.
  • Identify a robust pool of faculty and courses that create a vibrant learning opportunity for students enrolled in CCPS courses as offered in the evenings and weekends.
  • Partner with the appropriate faculty, staff, and administrators to strategically grow non-degree student enrollment including Admissions, Academic Affairs, Advisement.

Internal Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key operational liaison between CCPS and other departments, ensuring that all programs align with academic standards and run efficiently.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to support the implementation of new programs and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate with the IT department and other support units to address operational needs and resolve any issues related to program delivery.

Unit Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, including managing faculty payroll, monitoring budgets, and ensuring the efficient use of resources across all programs.
  • Support the Executive Director in managing program budgets and identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in higher education administration, with a focus on continuing education or related fields.
  • Experience in managing academic programs, including faculty recruitment, scheduling, and operational oversight.
  • Experience with online and certificate programs, including program development and launch.
  • Budget preparation, monitoring, and quality control experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiencies in academic programming.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, streamline operations, and support faculty and staff in delivering high-quality programs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in academic technology systems and general administrative tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google applications).
  • Exceptional listening skills and the ability to gather, analyze and accurately interpret detailed information; strong problem-solving skills

Additional Information:

Please note all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the background check process.

Salary:

Salary: $120,000 - $125,000 per year; commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Unit:

Non-bargaining unit

Work Schedule:

Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
