The Design Coordinator - Traffic is committed to supporting the Company by designing and coordinating traffic requirements during Design Build (DB) Phase and Construction Phase to minimize the impact on traffic operations. Job Description Location This position is based in Lake Charles, LA. Relocation assistance is available. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all traffic and transportation design aspects of the project, including design, coordination, and preparation of the Traffic and Transit Management Plan and associated subplans, and interface with stakeholders and government authorities.
  • Create traffic solutions based on requirements in the project agreement.
  • Coordinates with Client and other third parties to resolve discipline-related technical issues to obtain final approval of the design.
  • Identifies technical risks and participates in the preparation of risk reports.
  • Participates in the review of the Project budget forecasts, providing the necessary technical part for its realization.
  • Work closely with management, in monitoring traffic and transit operations and bring issues to a resolution.
  • Recommend changes in signal phasing and timing, pavement markings and signage to the staff as needed.
  • Identify and implement new sequences and phases of construction to minimize traffic changes and an maximize construction efficiency.
  • Work proactively to ensure that plans are in place to transition to the next phase in terms of detours, signage, pavement markings, signals and PVMS installations.
  • Participates in preparation of Traffic and Transit Management Plans (TTMP).
  • Monitor all temporary road networks on the construction site to ensure safe use. Including intersections, speed limits, visibility, signage, etc.
  • Carrying out traffic studies and investigations to identify network defects in the areas of traffic operations and management.
  • Hire, motivate, and lead a high-performing team through coaching, top-tier talent retention, and directed recruiting efforts.
  • Supervises team, including training, providing work direction, problem-solving assistance, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations.
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies Qualifications At a minimum, the Design Coordinator - Traffic must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineer or construction management, or equivalent field of study, along with 10+ years of traffic management and 4+ years of managerial experience or high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 14+ years of traffic management and 8+ years of managerial experience. Experience with Design Build Contracts and Bentley MicroStation is preferred. Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for Success
  • Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
  • Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
  • Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
