Job Title: Design EngineerJob DescriptionDesigning, routing, testing, and material specifications for natural gas distribution mains of up to 30 inches in diameterUtilize AutoCAD and GIS programs regularly while complying with industry codes and standardsSupport multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlinesCoordinate with various internal and external departmentsQuality control of drawings, maintaining accuracy of drawing database5-10% of time: travel to field for site inspections throughout life of the project; support the Field Operations and Construction Operations teams by traveling throughout service territory performing field engineering tasks such as taking measurements, taking notes of equipment, observing project installation and commissioningSkills & QualificationsCivil or Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar) MUST HAVEEngineer in Training (EIT) preferredAt least an internship or up to three years of experience (3 yrs max), internship is requiredProficient in AutoCADStrong interpersonal communication skillsDesire to work in an environment that's not heavy engineering, but more collaborative and well-rounded; looking for stabilityMust have reliable form of transportationJob TypeThis is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 36 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a hybrid position requiring Tuesday - Thursday on-site in Naperville, Illinois and Mondays and Fridays remote.Work EnvironmentNatural gas distribution company serving more than two million customers in a service territory that encompasses most of the northern third of Illinois, excluding the city of Chicago. It has 32,000 miles (51,000 km) of pipelines. Located in Naperville, IL. Hours are flexible but generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The team works in office three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays, employees have the ability/choice to work from home. Candidate will have their own cubicle with their own computer. They will be working in a team environment under the supervision of engineers. It's a highly collaborative work environment. Candidate should have reliable form of transportation to travel to sites/projects. Will be reimbursed for mileage. Work environment is steady, stable, predictable and collaborative.
