Responsibilities

* Design Steel Decking according to Steel Deck Institute standards

* Review and develop engineering tools specific to steel deck

* Roof/floor designs for projects including Retail Buildings, Schools, Warehouses, etc.

* Provide engineering direction to detailing, design, sales and production departments

* Interpret contract documents and communicate with Architects/Engineers of Record/Fabricators on product design requirements

* Design Joists, Joist Girders per Steel Joist Institute standards

* Become conversant in AISC, AISI, SJI, and SDI codes and specs

Qualifications

Required:

* B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent for Civil P.E. qualification

* Minimum Civil E.I.T. certification with desire to become Civil P.E.

* Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

* Prior steel deck industry or structural steel design experience

* Prior steel joist industry experience

* Civil P.E. certification
