Successful candidates can deal effectively and confidently with managers at all levels of responsibility. Desk Officers apply advanced knowledge and expertise of operations, operational tradecraft, and priorities when providing strategic guidance and operational case management. In addition, they are responsible for program management throughout the organization, from traditional operational activities to specialized initiatives. They provide objective reviews of ongoing and potential operations and serve as the vital link between personnel in the organization.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree and at least 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Familiarity with cable writing and classified databases, including specific targeting tools
- Strong briefing and writing skills as well as the ability to work well with teams or individually with minimal supervision
- Regional and/or functional expertise in a geographic region of interest
- Initiative, creativity, technical excellence, and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter who can multi-task and remain calm under pressure with the ability to work both independently and in a group
- Prior experience in supporting operations or familiarity with the IC.
Desired Qualifications- Certification as a Desk Officer or Staff Operations Officer
- Foreign field experience from at least one overseas tour or extensive overseas TDY experience
- Experience in Operations / Analysis / Support to Field Operations
- Experience identifying targeting leads through the exploitation of all-source databases
- Experience using databases to monitor field traffic and communicate with field offices
