Workstation/Desktop Support Specialist

Contract: through 12/2025 with opportunity for extension

Location: Jackson, MI (onsite 5x weekly)

Position requires work hours flexibility and mobility, as travel to other locations could be required at times.

The Business Partner Services (BPS) team within the Information Technology department works exclusively within the desktop environment and is responsible for supporting internal customers across multiple locations throughout the Consumers Energy territory. The PC Build Technician/Device Deployment team (within the BPS team) includes dedicated resources to support the receipt of new desktops / laptops, PC staging, and PC build activities that will support both asset refresh projects and ongoing support. A strong understanding of customer service is essential, as all work generated in this space will directly impact internal business customers.

The Build Technician/Device Deployment tech is dedicated to activities with the setup and delivery of new PCs. With a regular and consistent asset refresh schedule for a variety of internal customers, it is the device deployment technician's role to align with Refresh Coordinators to schedule the receipt, delivery and transfer of PCs. Further, it is expected that this role will ensure our internal customers have everything they need to work when a refresh is completed.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure PCs are online and ready to be logged into daily
  • Prepare UPS shipments daily for sending equipment to internal customers
  • Set up lockers for Business Partners to pick up and collect equipment from the lockers when equipment is returned
  • Check in Pc's and decommission Old PC's as they arrive back at our CE sites
  • Check in new hardware orders and keep the inventory in our build room organized
  • Update and move tickets through the replacement process
  • Update Build Tech tracking spreadsheets
  • Work with our internal business partners on setting up their devices and making sure they have all the s/w needed
  • Partner with the Build Tech on getting tickets processed and completed in a timely manner.
