Example of Duties
* Prepares and oversees the preparation of meals for the detention center; coordinates transportation of the food to inmates; trains inmates on proper use of kitchen equipment.
* Follows menu set by director; assists with tracking of supplies and stock; tracks kitchen utensils and maintains record of inmate use of utensils.
* Tracks and records inmate work time.
* Maintains appropriate temperature of freezer and cold storage areas.
* Inspects area for cleanliness, ensures that waste is removed at end of shift.
* Prepares and submits paperwork as assigned.
* Carries out duties in conformance with all federal, state and locals laws.
* Preforms other related duties as needed and required by law.
* Assists co-workers with various duties, on an as needed basis.
* Maintains assigned equipment, supplies and facilities.
* May be assigned to perform duties of higher or lower level classifications in this or related class series and/or perform duties on a temporary or acting basis.
* Responsible for knowing and complying with all Kenton Count and Detention Center safety rules.
* Perform other related duties as required.
* Sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties
* Working conditions include regular exposure to dangerous and /or hazardous situations, continuous noises, bright lights, contagious diseases, humid surroundings, extreme hot or cold temperatures, dust and odors.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* The operation of standard kitchen equipment.
* Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances and department rules and regulations.
* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers and superiors.
* Completion of High School or GED
Necessary Special & Physical Requirements:
* Must be a United States Citizen.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Must not have been convicted of a felony or serous misdemeanor
* Subject to an extensive background check.
* Subject to random drug and alcohol testing and polygraph examination during employment
* May be required to possess a valid driver's license
* Must be able to operate County government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.

* Must have the strength and agility to allow the employee to perform job duties which would be found at the sedentary level of work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like food items and kitchen tools.
