SCI, the leading executive search firm in the real estate industry, is seeking a Development Associate to help manage projects from start to finish. Our client is a 45 year old, full service developer of affordable and market-rate multifamily, with a history of transacting on twenty thousand units.
Location: Hybrid - min. 2 days in White Plains office per week (unless on site).
Overview: The Development Associate will assist the Director of Development and Development Project Managers with various aspects of development, design, and construction of multi-family residential projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in origination, finance, planning, design and project management of a portfolio of projects.
- Perform market research to determine feasibility and aid in the assessment of new projects.
- Assist in predevelopment scheduling and development/operating budgets, working closely with Development Project Managers and team members in the design, construction and property management divisions.
- Review/process vendor invoices.
- Assist Development Project Managers with preparing applications for project financing, including writing narratives, organizing and compiling docs, inputting financial information into templates, and application submission.
- Liaise with internal/external team members to schedule project-specific meetings, prepare meeting materials, and take meeting minutes.
- Help evaluate RFPs (Requests for Proposals) for potential projects, focusing on feasibility and profitability metrics, and help coordinate the preparation of responses to RFPs.
- Represent the development team at site visits, RFP conferences, and public/private meetings.
- Aid in the prep of documents for filing with the state/local agencies and municipal boards. .
- Assist in liaising with building departments, planning and zoning boards, and community stakeholders to obtain entitlements.
- Review vendors contracts, loan docs and agreements, and other project docs and maintain records of project plans, requirements, progress, and finances.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, business, construction management, finance, public policy, real estate development, urban planning or a related field.
- 1-3 years prior experience in the industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of policy and programs impacting affordable housing development is a plus.
- Drivers License and access to a vehicle is a plus.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel, is required.
