Job Summary:
The Development Coach is a year-round position reporting to the Director of Research and Staff Development. It is the mission of the Development Coach to empower all staff to confidently lead through challenging situations with students while prioritizing the use of hands-off de-escalation strategies. Working in strong collaboration with other members of the training department and their supervisor, the development coach stays current with the evolution of Therapeutic Interventions and ensures effective staff development. They are an expert in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS), the writing of Incident Reports (IRs), and facilitators in the Staff Debriefing process. They provide real-time support to all staff during situations involving escalated student behavior by guiding staff through preventative/de-escalation strategies. Having access to confidential information, the development coach is expected to exercise discretion and independent decision-making.

A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment's notice. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling may be required.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
