Scheduled Hours30Position SummaryPerforms duties related to patient care such as initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, maintaining records and responding to needs of patients that are treated in the outpatient dialysis setting.Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:Arranges and maintains equipment and supplies for performance of dialysis and other procedures, including preparation of Dialysate solutions.Performs cannulation, initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatment.Observes and monitors patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters; assesses patient signs and symptoms and provides treatment accordingly.Communicates pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader; documents these results per unit's policies.Transports, weighs and assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and chairs.Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and responds to patient concerns in a timely manner.Working Conditions:Job Location/Working ConditionsRequires extensive safety training.Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.High noise environment.Requires protective devices.Patient care setting.Direct patient care setting.Physical EffortTypically sitting at desk or table.Typically standing or walking.Typically bending, crouching, stooping.Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less).EquipmentClinical/diagnostic equipment.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
