Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle
  • Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, light-duty vehicles, and company-owned equipment in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Execute quality preventive maintenance inspections on fleet vehicles including refrigeration units
  • Carry out maintenance repairs that maximize vehicle safety and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration units and ensure all Driver Vehicle Inspection report issues are resolved promptly
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs following manufacturer specifications across various systems
  • Maintain precise documentation of work performed
  • Offer mentorship to Fleet Technician I and II, facilitating their career development
  • Assume moderate supervisory responsibilities in the absence of management
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not mandatory)
  • Experience: Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training with either 2 years of experience from a technical school plus 4 years of experience, or 5 years of fleet maintenance and repair experience
  • Preferred Certifications: Annual Inspector Certification, Brake Inspector Certification, ASE certifications for Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (not required), EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC Refrigeration Certification
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers
  • The technician must provide their own tools (Sysco will provide diagnostic equipment and major tools)
