Overview:
The Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the digital marketing strategy across all channels for CPG / retail products. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will oversee digital campaigns, performance analysis, and team leadership to drive brand awareness, engagement, and revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing multi-channel campaigns and a deep understanding of digital tools and analytics, with experience presenting and working with C-level leaders and/or a Board to share marketing strategy and performance updates.
Salary range depends on experience.
A few things to note that we are looking for, in a condensed version:
- You must be a true digital marketing expert with 10+ years of hands-on (you have done the execution yourself and are current with best practices for paid search, social, email, etc.) experience with multi-channel digital strategy as well as small team management in the CPG space from a mid-sized business vs a large global brand.
- If you are from an agency and worked with relevant CPG clients, that's fine, but the note above still applies - you must have current hands-on experience vs handing off duties to account or marketing teams 100% of the time.
- Brand passion is a must - if you are just looking for a new job with less of a commute, or because you hate your current job and just want any job, this will not be a fit.
Digital Marketing Director Duties:
- Strategy Development: Create and implement a cohesive digital marketing strategy that aligns with business objectives and leverages data-driven insights.
- Campaign Management: Lead and optimize multi-channel campaigns including SEO, SEM, email, social media, content marketing, and display advertising.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of digital marketers, providing guidance on best practices and campaign execution.
- Performance Analysis: Use analytics tools to track campaign performance, refine strategies, and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Budget Management: Oversee and allocate the digital marketing budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficiency and optimal resource distribution.
- Innovation & Trends: Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating new tactics to drive growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as sales, design, and customer service to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
- Brand Management: Uphold digital brand consistency and establish guidelines and best practices.
Digital Marketing Director Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of digital marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Entrepreneurial: Must be a roll-up-the sleeves kind of person, not a mass delegator.
- Skills: Strong expertise in Google Analytics, Google Ads, social media platforms, and CRM systems. Proven ability to execute successful campaigns.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, with exceptional communication and project management skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and make informed strategic decisions.
- Creative Thinking: Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and proactive problem-solving.
- Passion: You must be excited about the brand and what you can accomplish with it.
- Presentation: You must be someone that can be entrusted to sit across the table with major business partners at the C level.
