Salary: $15.00 HourlyLocation : Lenoir Community College 231 Hwy 58 South Kinston, NCJob Type: Part-timeJob Number: 01366Division: Student ServicesDepartment: Student Services DeptOpening Date: 12/05/2024Closing Date: ContinuousGeneral Function The Digital Navigator (Part-time) leads the day-to-day duties of the Digital Navigators Program providing assistance to students, adult learners, and underserved populations who need resources regarding home internet service and affordable internet-capable devices. This position coaches students in the area of introductory digital literacy skills in order for them to become effective internet and digital users. Assistance is provided through various platforms including in-person, video chat, phone, email, and text message. The Digital Navigator will visit classrooms for workshops and trainings on the main campus (Kinston) as well as other LCC campus locations. The Digital Navigator (Part-time) will report to the Director of Library Services and work in tandem with the Director of Transitional and Career Studies. This is not an instructional position but will require providing trainings, workshops, and visiting classes. Position is contingent upon availability of grant funds.This position will remain open until filled. Qualifications
- Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution, preferably with coursework in IT or education is required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and exceptional computer skills required
- Excellent typing, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Must be creative, flexible, and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work with a variety of clients from high school through adulthood
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
- Proficiency in Spanish and English highly desired
- Teaching experience highly desired
- Knowledge of various devices and software including: Windows and Apple computers, Android and Apple smartphones, and Microsoft and Google applications
- Experience with Canva and Microsoft Power Platform is preferred
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in a library environment by either sitting at a desk/computer and/or while standing in front of a group for extended periods
- Frequent use of the telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse
- Requires lifting, moving, shelving, and retrieving office supplies from high and low settings
Essential Functions and Responsibilities The duties of the Digital Navigator (Part-time) include, but are not limited to:
- Process intake forms for enrolling clients and receive, return, or initiate contact with clients
- Liaise with faculty to integrate program into their classes
- Create a variety of documents including general correspondence and reports
- Enroll and monitor students in Northstar Digital Literacy platform and track progress monthly
- Visit classes to conduct workshops on the Digital Navigators Program
- Lead continuous digital literacy workshops open to the public
- Create outreach content such as fliers, brochures, web pages, videos, and other informational content
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss ideas for improvement, resolve problems, and stay updated on plans and activities
- Attend professional development trainings, webinars, meetings, seminars, and attend conferences
- Perform other related duties as assigned
