Part-time Dining Services Staff Westtown School seeks an energetic and customer-oriented person to assist with general food preparation, dining room service, general cleaning, and other support of the Dining Services Department. This part-time, year-round position is 20 hours per week with some evening and weekend work required. Westtown School is an independent, Quaker co-educational, pre-K to 12, college preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Essential Responsibilities
- Provides friendly, efficient, and helpful service;
- Assists with meal setup, service, and collaborating with the student work program;
- Assists with some daily food set-up according to the Assistant Kitchen Manager's specifications;
- Performs food replenishment and displays food items;
- Follows wrap, label, and date procedures for all food items;
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and completes daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by the Assistant Kitchen Manager;
- Ensures that proper food handling practices are followed;
- Notifies managers of all maintenance and safety issues;
- Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;
- Reports all accidents to the Kitchen Manager immediately;
- Works efficiently and collaboratively with other team members;
- Participates in departmental meetings and all necessary training;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required
- Some prior food service experience is preferred
- Experience in a customer service position is highly desirable
- A team-oriented spirit and the desire to work in a collaborative environment
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 lbs regularly using proper moving and lifting procedures
- Able to stand, walk, sit, and climb
- Able to push and pull heavy loads
- Able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
