Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummary/Objective: In conjunction with other members of the team, the TCRP Direct Care Professional (DCP) provides a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for program participants. The DCP teaches program participants to achieve attainable goals regarding, but not limited to, appropriate social behavior, skills of daily living, and education. Additionally, they may provide intensive family engagement and community support to help prevent future crises. Supervision, support, guidance, and role modeling to the youth in the TCRP, are essential job responsibilities.Essential Functions:•While participating in activities on or off Campus, provide constant supervision.•Provide the youth a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. •Facilitate group skill building activities. •Monitor skills of daily living, complete laundry, encourage proper hygiene and dress habits.•Monitor medical concerns - observing youth self-administration of medications, as required, completing all medical forms and passing all medical issues on to the program RN and/or Program Coordinator.•Prepare, serve, and supervise meals.•Assume telephone and driving duties.•Snow removal, as required (i.e., monitoring exits of the building).•To ensure the Cottage is maintained in a presentable manner, consistent with agency standards, general housekeeping responsibilities are required.•Attend all meetings and training programs. •Consistently enforce all agency rules, policies, and procedures.•Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time. Read necessary documentation.•Help youth work through difficult situations by using Crisis Intervention techniques taught by the agency (active listening, conflict resolution, intervention skills).•Must remain alert and awake during shift. •Immediately report to a supervisor any situation considered unsafe for the youth.•Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with all clients and families.•Attend school setting with youth, as needed.•A valid NYS driver's license and ability to drive legally is required.Special Requirements:Work Environment: Works in a residential setting. Will require occasional travel to local schools, conferences and/or meetings. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or confused, and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with serious mental illness. Works in a residential setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Full-Time, 40 hours per week, day/evening/overnight shifts, one weekend day required. Depending on the needs of the Agency, work schedules may vary weekly.Travel:Limited travel is required to meet program needs.Required Education and Experience: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences or a related field. Prior experience working with youth-at-risk or related youth work preferred. RequirementsSkills/Abilities/Knowledge:Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Must be able to work with privileged information in an unbiased and ethical manner. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to provide crisis intervention. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver's license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.Salary Description Starting at $18.25/hr
