Hours: 7

* Saturday 3:00pm-10:00pm Every Other Weekend

Location: Woodbury, MN

Rate of Pay $26/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a DSP to work in a group home setting 1:1 with a young male individual with Autism. He presents with limited verbal abilities and has challenges communicating his wants and needs. He is currently residing in his own home. His current provider and support team report challenges with recruiting and retaining staff capable of providing the support and training.

The individual is described as exceptionally active. He has a higher than average amount of energy, is very outgoing and needs to be constantly on the move. He is also extremely food focused. Any sign of a staff being intimidated by him will likely result in challenging behaviors. Ideal staff has experience working with strong men with Autism, and someone physically fit and mentally engaged to keep up with the individual.

Requirements

Only qualified individuals will be contacted to interview for the position

* High school diploma or equivalent

* 2 years of relevant work experience

* 1 year of experience working with Autism and challenging behaviors

* Physically able to exert body throughout the day (walking, running, lifting, bending)

* Experience de escalating individuals who are prone to property destruction and physical and verbal aggression

* Ability to read, write and speak English at a level that meets the performance requirements; or must be able to communicate in the language spoken by the individual at a level that meets the performance requirements; whichever is deemed more important by the company.

* Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

* Ability to meet licensing requirements of the state and county

* Ability to effectively use a computer/tablet, calculator, household appliances, smoke alarms, etc. with training
