Job Title: Direct Support Professional-Day Program ServicesDepartment: Day ProgramHours: Mon-Fri 8am-4pmPosition Overview: Responsible for the supervision, guidance and training of assigned individuals at the day program. Will provide training in the areas of pre-vocational skills, socialization, communication, cognitive skills, and self-help to facilitate the individuals' community integration and maximum level of vocational achievement, community involvement and independence.Essential Job Functions:Actively support individuals by implementing training programs to enhance vocational skills, implementing goals, behavior support plans, and direct support and guidance in daily activities.Ensure individual's files are complete and organized including daily goal and behavior support plan data.Evaluate and plan annual and interim goals using current agency format in preparation of annual interdisciplinary team meetings.Keep supervisor informed of incidents or accidents and complete incident reports as required.Inform supervisor of problems and concerns related to individuals' program participation.Record individuals' daily work production, if applicable and submit individuals' bi-weekly time sheet.Records individuals' daily notes regarding individual's routine community activities, volunteerism and work.Provides support and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, encouraging, facilitating and assisting them to participate as fully as they wish in all aspects of community life.Assist other staff members and supervisors in delivery of services to other program participants when assigned individual(s) is not in attendance.Conduct all contacts with families and other agency staff with professionalism.Maintain positive working relationships and act as an advocate for all assigned individual(s).Requests needed supplies and equipment that would enhance and assist participants functioning more independently.Complete all state and agency required documentation in accordance with stated guidelines and deadlines.Foster positive, professional relationship with supported person.DSP will support person in accordance with the Person-Centered Plan, Behavior Support Plan (if applicable), and Nursing Care Plan.Check and respond to emails daily to maintain proper communication.Obtain and maintain Medication Administration Certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing.Administer and document medications pursuant to State and Agency requirements. All medication is completed through an eMAR. Medication administration follows the DDA nursing delegation model.Provide transportation via company vehicles to supported persons. DSP must have current Driver's License and meet the agency driving requirements.Ensure that the vehicle is fully operational with an adequate amount of fuel. Maintain a clean interior and exterior.Complete and maintain required trainings in accordance with DDA/State/Company regulations. This includes, and is not limited to, CPR/First-Aid, the Mandt System, certified medication technician course and regular recertifications.Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication, time and attendance, progress notes, incident report filing, etc.Encourage opportunities for decision making, self-help activities, and daily planning.All other duties that may be requested by Program Manager and Division Director.Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)Training and Experience:Preferred DDA core competencies, Mandt Systems Training, CPR / First Aid, MTTP. Experience working with people with IDD/DD preferred but not required.Physical Requirements:Applicant must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours. Person must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more based on assigned supported person (using health and safety lifting / turning techniques or assistive devices). Applicant must be able to successfully demonstrate all Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques, to include assisting supported person to standing, providing assistance with ambulation, physical releases, and physical restraints.Health: Health, Vision, Dental, supplemental coverage through Aflac.
