RSI (Residential Services, Inc.) is a private, nonprofit serving the Orange County (Chapel Hill/Carrboro) communities, dedicated to providing quality care and support to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). We are committed to helping individuals thrive and reach their fullest potential. We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals.

Position Overview:

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to adults with IDD in our group home setting. You will ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents throughout their workday at their day program!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, assistance, and support to residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and medication administration.
  • Monitor and respond to any medical or behavioral needs that may arise during the daytime following established protocols and procedures.
  • Promote a positive and empowering atmosphere within the group home, encouraging social interaction, participation in recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities.
  • Document observations, incidents, and interventions accurately and promptly in resident records.
  • Collaborate with team members, including case managers, healthcare professionals, and family members, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment, including performing light housekeeping duties and conducting regular safety checks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with IDD or in a similar caregiving role preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and composed in challenging situations, with a compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures, with the willingness to learn and follow healthcare protocols.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.

Current Openings/Schedule:

M-F 7am-3pm

Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs 2:30pm-9pm, 8-8pm on weekend day

Overnights 11pm-9am

Part-time includes Weekend shifts and weekday shifts that vary.
