You will assist them in leading self-directed lives and work to foster a spirit of partnership with the people you support, other professionals, and the community.A DSP will also assist the people you support to develop and maintain relationships. Some of the things you'll do as a DSP include:
  • Join and help people you support while they shop for groceries, clothes, or run errands.
  • Attend community events (baseball or basketball games) and special celebrations like birthday parties.
  • Ensure medications are given and complete required documentation.
  • Help people you support to prepare meals, clean, eat, take care of personal hygiene, and get around at home and outside.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver's license preferred
  • Acceptable background check
