Summary

The Director of Accounts Payable will lead and supervise all aspects of the Accounts Payable department, including budgeting, planning and day-to-day operations to enhance and drive operational efficiencies and establish a robust control culture. This position will work closely with Procurement and the Corporate Controller on processes to ensure accuracy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set objectives for the accounts payable team that align with the Accounting and Finance department goals to ensure that the department operates efficiently and meets or exceeds company expectations.
  • Manage vendor relationships including negotiating discounts and communications to arrange payment terms.
  • Ensure timely and accurate disbursement to vendors based on documented grants of authority and established procedures
  • Review invoices to verify correct costs and adherence to company policies.
  • Develops new policies and process improvements and implements changes within function
  • Ensure expenses are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Lead preparation and reconciliation of 1099s
  • Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure accurate accounts receivable balances.
  • Oversee record keeping to maintain records of financial transactions related to accounts payable (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, checks).
  • Reports out results of key metrics/KPI's to management.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned or needed

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in accounting department. Supervisory responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning,

assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience

Requires bachelor's degree in finance, Business, or a comparable discipline and at least 10 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years managing people and teams highly desired.
