THE OPPORTUNITY: The Director, Brand Marketing at Caraway will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our brand strategy across key channels and touchpoints. This role will be responsible for driving brand awareness, engagement, and organic growth while ensuring a consistent brand voice. Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing, you will be a strategic thinker, storyteller, and experienced marketer who can expertly bring to life Caraway's mission and brand ethos across various marketing channels.

As Director, Brand Marketing, you will lead the development and execution of brand strategies, PR, events, and cross-functional marketing campaigns that resonate with our target audiences and align with our core values of non-toxic living, sustainability, and modern design. Your work will drive a holistic, connected brand experience and foster brand loyalty, community, and advocacy. The Director, Brand Marketing will lead a dynamic team of direct and indirect reports. This role is best suited for a professional who thrives in and has demonstrated success in a dynamic, fast-paced, growing, remote environment.

WHO YOU ARE: You are a strategic and creative brand marketer with a passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of consumer behavior. With extensive experience building brand strategies, ideally within consumer goods or DTC, you excel in crafting narratives that engage diverse audiences and foster loyalty. You have successfully developed multi-channel campaigns, content, PR, and events that elevate brand identity and drive growth. Your collaborative approach allows you to work seamlessly with internal teams (Creative, Product, Growth, Retail) and external partners (PR agencies, influencers), ensuring a consistent and compelling brand voice.

Data-driven and results-focused, you define KPIs, analyze performance, and leverage insights to optimize strategies that drive consumer engagement and brand awareness. As a leader, you inspire and mentor teams, creating a supportive environment that values creativity and innovation. You align with Caraway's mission of non-toxic living and sustainability and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ready to build brand experiences that leave a lasting impact on the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop & Execute Brand Strategies: Create comprehensive, insights-driven strategies including campaign roadmaps, content calendars, PR plans, and social media initiatives to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and business growth. Craft messaging that reflects Caraway's mission, values, and market positioning to foster emotional connections with customers.
  • Oversee Multi-Channel Campaigns: Lead brand and evergreen marketing campaigns across channels, including digital, social, PR, and events, collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure consistency and cohesive storytelling.
  • Brand Content Strategy: Partner with Creative, Product, and Growth teams to develop innovative content and creative assets that highlight Caraway's products and values, including quarterly/seasonal campaigns, and customer appreciation programs.
  • Lead PR & Storytelling: Manage PR strategy in collaboration with our agency partner(s) to deliver compelling narratives that drive media coverage and brand buzz.
  • Customer-Centric Community Building: Develop programs and initiatives to engage with and celebrate Caraway customers through loyalty initiatives, social media, and gifting that elevate the brand experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Growth, and Retail teams to ensure a consistent brand voice across all customer touchpoints, including retail partnerships and digital channels. Align brand strategies with go-to-market strategies, revenue objectives, and retailer goals.
  • Measurement & Reporting: Define KPIs and leverage performance data to inform brand strategy and execution. Collaborate with Social and Growth to interpret results and optimize brand-led efforts, ensuring alignment with objectives and refining marketing initiatives based on insights.
  • Analyze Market & Customer Insights: Conduct in-depth market research to uncover consumer behaviors, emerging trends, and market opportunities, using these insights to inform brand strategy, creative campaigns, and content development.
  • Drive Social Strategy: Direct the organic Social team to develop compelling, repeatable content series and grow Caraway's presence and key metrics across social platforms. Ensure brand messaging aligns with Caraway's goals to support growth & engagement targets.
  • Brand Events & Partnerships: Partner and collaborate on the execution of brand-related events, sponsorships, and evergreen partnerships, aligning them with Caraway's brand pillars and strategy.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of marketers, developing and supporting your team's skills and career growth and fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes creativity, innovation, and growth.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • 10+ years of direct brand marketing, content strategy, or related marketing experience
  • Experience within the consumer goods industry or a consumer-facing brand strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to lead through influence across diverse teams
  • Passion for brand storytelling and creativity with messaging that resonates with target audiences
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Deep understanding of consumer behavior and market trends in home, lifestyle, and non-toxic products
  • Proven experience in developing and executing PR strategies, events, and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Interest in home goods, design, and sustainability, aligning with Caraway's brand mission
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and comfortable developing and presenting to large groups, including executive management, either in person or over Google Meet
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively build consensus across teams
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, preferred

The anticipated base salary range for this role ​is $150,000 - $175,000 - Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
