Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and motivated candidate with significant experience in building strategic partnerships in the payments and financial services industries to help launch new consumer products and services. The ideal candidate possesses a passion in helping users to achieve better financial well-being and has a strong understanding of the industry landscape.

As a Fintech Business Development Manager within Samsung Fintech Business, you will have an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on the strategy to create seamless and secure financial solutions that simplify everyday financial tasks by championing and creating and managing relationships with other Fintech players in the industry to drive strategic value, foster long-term growth, and benefits to the Samsung Fintech Business stakeholders.

  • Interface with external Fintech partners and distribution network partners to explore and identify new features, value-add services, and technology to be enabled through Samsung Fintech ecosystem, including Samsung Wallet, Samsung.com and additional channels (e.g., TVs and smart appliances) to acquire new customer base and to continually improve the customer engagement.
  • Source, negotiate, and commercialize new strategic partnerships that can contribute impactful value to the Samsung Fintech business objectives.
  • Cultivate strong and highly effective relationships with key partners to deliver on strategic growth opportunities.
  • Shape our products and partnerships by providing business insights and foster meaningful collaborations with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, marketing, and operations team from both local offices and the Korea headquarters.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 12 years of experience in business development and partnership management, ideally in the mobile and financial services space.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, managing, and negotiating with partners.
  • Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of the mobile & payments ecosystem and financial service space with fluency in business models and knowledge of the competitive landscape.
  • Ability to work proficiently in highly technical settings, leveraging product management and development teams during negotiations and implementation.
  • Ability to gain influence across the business without authority.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred.
  • Experience in large-scale, mobile-first applications and services.
  • Proven partnership success in financial services, financial technology, and payments industries.
  • Familiarity with financial technical infrastructure (e.g. processors and card networks).
  • Ability to navigate international cultures and work across time zones and willingness to work with a remotely located development and design teams.
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally, when required, to meet partners, development team, or other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Korean language is desirable, but not mandatory.
