We are seeking a Director to lead a Climate Risk team, combining business insight, economic theory, and advanced quantitative methods to integrate climate risks into credit risk assessments. This role will manage a small team of 4 direct reports and can be performed 100% remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate Natural Hazards into Credit Risk: Convert climate and natural disaster risks into credit risk perspectives for the company's portfolio.
- Enhance Portfolio Analytics: Improve portfolio performance analytics by embedding climate risk factors into business decision-making.
- Risk Framework Integration: Lead efforts to incorporate climate risks into credit risk analysis, capital planning, and risk appetite assessments.
- Scenario Analysis: Develop physical and transition risk scenario analyses for various climate hazards (e.g., floods, wildfires, droughts).
- Data Gap Analysis: Identify climate data gaps and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Subject Matter Expert: Lead the development and application of climate risk models, ensuring robustness and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 4, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Key Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in climate risk, quantitative analytics, or related fields, with hands-on modeling skills and leadership experience.
- Expertise in vendor models (Aon, Verisk, Cat Risk, RMS, CoreLogic) for climate risk assessment.
- Strong background in credit risk models, scenario analysis, and integrating climate risks into business frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to senior leadership
- Proven leadership in managing a small, technical team (4 direct reports), fostering a collaborative team environment, and developing talent.
- Advanced quantitative modeling and data analysis skills, with proficiency in predictive techniques used in finance, statistics, and climate risk modeling.
