About This Role

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Commercial Analytics and Forecasting. This role is crucial in driving data-driven decisions and supporting the commercial launch of key Axsome products. This role will provide analytical expertise, working closely with the commercial leadership team (Marketing, Sales, Value & Access) to execute projects that directly impact our brand commercialization strategy. This position reports to the Vice President of Data and Analytics.

This role is based at Axsome's HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage various pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., patient data, HCP prescribing data, payor data) to generate actionable insights that enhance our understanding of market opportunities and customer behaviors.
  • ROI Modeling & Marketing Analysis: Develop and maintain ROI models, marketing mix models, and multi-touch attribution analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies and optimize resource allocation. Clearly communicate these insights to stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Advanced Statistical Analysis & ML Models: Utilize advanced statistical analysis and machine learning models to predict the next best patient, the next best action for physicians, and implement big data forecasting techniques at the territory level. Be hands-on in conducting these analyses and adept at presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Simplifying Complex Analysis: Translate complex, unstructured business issues into clear, actionable analytical plans. Present findings in a manner that is easily understandable to senior business leaders without a technical background.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the commercial analytics and insights team to integrate secondary data analytics with primary research and insights from other sources.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with top-tier analytics vendors to enhance our analytical capabilities.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple complex data analysis projects simultaneously, ensuring they yield high-quality, impactful insights for the commercial team.

Requirements/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Math, Physics, Statistics & Operations Research) is required; an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a technical field is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years in pharmaceutical or biotechnology Sales & Marketing Analytics, with hands-on experience in programming (Python, R, SQL) and using tools like AWS SageMaker.
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive hands-on experience working with large datasets using tools like AWS SageMaker, Python, R, and SQL. Strong knowledge of various pharmaceutical data sources, including patient claims data from IQVIA/SHA, sales force activity data, physician prescription data, and real-world evidence data such as MarketScan and Optum claims. Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI), and advanced statistical analysis techniques.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to various audiences.
  • CNS Therapeutic knowledge preferred, but not required.

Salary & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $180,000 - $215,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
