Position Highlights

This position is located in Pierre, SD.

May be eligible for $10,000 sign-on bonus and up to $5,000 relocation allowance.

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, occas eve/wknd/hol/call; 80hrs/2wks

A Brief OverviewAccountable assigned departments which may include Facility Services, Environmental Services, Security, Plant Operations, Grounds and/or Valet based on assigned location. The director will assist in planning, organizing and directing all department functions and activities. May manages construction and remodeling projects. Responsible to establish goals, objectives, standards of performance and assist to develop policies and procedures. The Director will be accountable to interpret policies, standards and regulations to personnel, patients, medical staff and the public.What you will do
  • Assist and conducts with the negotiations with the utility companies in securing the necessary contracts for the hospitals in the areas of electrical, gas, water, and sewer and energy plant distribution systems and the monitoring of these systems for efficient operations.
  • Responsible for assisting Facility Service Directors to keep budgets within the limits established by the hospital administration.
  • Responsible for aiding in the efficient and productive operations of Facility Services Departments.
  • Responsible to keep knowledge current with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards associated with, but not limited to: CMS, Joint Commission, EPA, NFPA, OSHA, and building codes.
  • Responsible for managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously towards successful completion at multiple facilities throughout Avera.
  • Administers and coordinates structural, mechanical, and electrical revisions and/or additions to all buildings on assigned locations.
  • Provides collaboration and leadership with a wide range of interdisciplinary teams including the Admin Council.
  • Administers the documentation of property, utility, security, and maintenance information.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.   • Bachelor's from four-year college or university
  • Drivers License - Licensing Board
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License - National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
  • Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) - American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE)
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) - International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
  • 4-6 years Facility Services leadership experience.
