The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The Health and Welfare Director is responsible for the ongoing management of all US health and welfare benefits programs and for developing the global Health and Welfare benefits strategy in alignment to Solventum's Benefits Philosophy and Priorities.

This includes ensuring that the company's benefits offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant leveraging a team of subject matter experts and managing vendor relationships.

The role also includes oversight on Global health and welfare benefits programs, ensuring alignment with Global Benefits priorities and providing expertise to regional Total Rewards teams.

Strategic Leadership and Program Oversight

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the company's health and welfare benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, wellness, and other employee health-related benefits.
  • Develop a strategic approach to employee benefits to ensure offerings align with the company's overall mission and values while addressing employee needs and maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Oversee annual open enrollment and benefits renewal processes, ensuring smooth execution and clear communication to employees.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize benefits program design, cost, and utilization.

Vendor Management and Relationship Building

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including health insurance carriers, wellness program providers, and other benefits-related service providers.
  • Manage vendor performance to ensure high-quality services are delivered and monitor the utilization of benefits programs.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Stay informed on federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA,) that impact health and welfare programs to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee compliance audits and ensure all necessary filings, reports, and documentation are submitted on time.

Employee Communication and Education

  • Lead communication efforts to educate employees on their benefits options, eligibility, and enrollment processes.
  • Develop and deliver clear and concise materials such as benefit guides, FAQs, and webinars to improve employee understanding and engagement.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Manage the health and welfare benefits budget, including evaluating and managing annual costs and making recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  • Work with finance and procurement teams to ensure financial alignment and cost optimization in benefits offerings.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead a team of benefits subject matter experts providing directions, coaching and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and trusted work environment

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher AND (10) years of employee benefits or health and welfare management

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

  • (5) years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in a large, complex organization, managing multi-faceted benefit programs, working with global teams

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Health Insurance Associate (HIA), or similar certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health and welfare benefits programs, including healthcare plans, wellness initiatives, and compliance requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of US federal and state healthcare laws and regulations (ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party vendors.
  • Analytical skills and experience with benefits data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting.

Travel: May include up to 10% (domestic/international)

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $222,044 - $271,387, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
