Industry-leading Am Law firm is seeking a Director of Legal Training & Development to lead a team and oversee the firm's attorney training, curriculum, continuing legal education (CLE), and career development. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and can be based in SF, Silicon Valley, San Diego, Seattle, NYC, or D.C.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evaluate firmwide training programs focused on professional and client service skills, legal competencies, and career development.
- Assess training programs for effectiveness, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic goals and making necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with firm leadership, practice group leaders, and attorneys to identify training needs and measure program success.
- Partner with internal and external presenters to elevate training delivery, update content, and introduce new learning opportunities.
- Oversee the firm's attorney orientation, onboarding, and integration processes, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires.
- Manage firmwide CLE compliance, including tracking, reporting, and obtaining accreditation in key states.
- Lead mentorship programs, working closely with legal personnel, diversity teams, and practice management.
- Develop and implement e-Learning programs tailored to practice group needs.
- Recruit, engage, and develop the training and development team to effectively deliver on goals and initiatives.
- Manage the training budget and ensure alignment with the firm's financial objectives.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a law firm, with a strong background in attorney professional development, adult learning, and program design.
- Bachelor's degree required; JD, MBA, or advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience in designing and managing professional development programs with a focus on attorney career progression.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop talent.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
