The Director, Market Expansion will spearhead the development and execution of strategic initiatives to expand Intrepid's fiber broadband network into new markets. This dynamic leader will work cross-functionally, and with external stakeholders, to develop and analyze these new opportunities. This person will have a strong understanding of the telecommunications industry, market dynamics and be agile to flip from strategic planning to tactical execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

What will you be doing?

  • Overall ownership of market expansion efforts including strategy, pipeline development, financial modelling and day-to-day execution
  • Develop and implement market expansion strategy that aligns with Intrepid's vision and long-term goals
  • Identify and prioritize target markets for expansion based on analysis and competitive landscape
  • Oversee pipeline of prospective markets to ensure opportunities move through the appropriate review process and due diligence
  • Review and analyze prospective markets, ensuring a thorough and comprehensive assessment
  • Create business plans that include investment recommendations, proposed costs, risks, assumptions and expected returns
  • Provide insights and recommendations to executive team based on data-driven analysis
  • Lead the end-to-end solution development for new markets, including recommendations for design, construction methodologies, material selection, and third-party acquisition opportunities
  • Collaborate and manage handoffs to functional teams for execution
  • Build and manage a team of professionals, fostering an environment of teamwork, collaboration, trust and integrity
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices, including competitor activities
  • Serve as the company's representative at meetings with municipalities, government agencies, and industry events to foster relationships and ensure effective communication
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

What you bring to the team:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications
  • Ability to create and understand financial and business models, with an understanding of rate-of-return and value creation
  • Extensive knowledge of telecommunications industry, including fiber design and construction
  • Strong analytical skillset, with the ability to interpret data and market trends
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, including developing alternative solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention
  • Displays creativity and innovation; drives original thinking and meets challenges with resourcefulness
  • Adaptable to changing conditions and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and/or experience will also be considered
