JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Medical Strategy - SVP is a senior-level position within the agency responsible for providing medical, financial, and career oversight for their team. They must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to think strategically to meet the needs of the client. They are responsible for overseeing the medical content for new business pitches and growing the medical department as needed. Additionally, the Director of Medical Strategy - SVP will assume responsibility for overseeing a team of Medical Directors, fostering their growth and career development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Knowledge/Expertise: Demonstrate depth of understanding for multiple products and disease states; demonstrate the ability to distill the medical and scientific information into strategic insights and actionable ideas for the brand; have a deep understanding of our capabilities as well as those of our competitors.
  • Strategic Skills/Tools: Work closely with integrated strategy team members to develop brand strategy; combine in-depth scientific understanding of the product and disease state with market awareness to provide high-level communication planning for clients; elevate, expand, and refine strategic offerings of the medical strategy department.
  • Client Relationships: Lead medically related client interactions across multiple pieces of business.
  • Business Development: Lead medical research and development efforts for new business pitches.
  • JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge/Expertise: Critically review content developed by others in the agency, including copywriters, medical directors, art directors, brand strategists. Proactively and proficiently provide strategic medical recommendations based on the changing market to enhance brand communications. Keep abreast of new and changing trends in our industry to ensure we provide the most up-to-date recommendations for our brands.
  • Strategic Skills/Tools: Interact with and, if necessary, lead discussions with internal teams, clients, and HCPs to help meet strategic objectives of the brand. Ensure the 'medical hook' of the brand is pulled through when new content is created. Proactively identify and execute on medical opportunities that contribute to strategic and tactical development. Ensure teams are optimizing the use of data to tell a viable, differentiating story. Ensure medical department visibility through medical team-led agency presentations. Develop and/or refine best practices toolkits (e.g., medical offerings, new hire onboarding). Lead and/or co-lead proprietary workshops when appropriate.
  • Client Relationships: Participate in and contribute to senior leader client meetings and workshops with your account and strategic planning partners. Support account team with building positive client relationships. Help to identify and recommend new initiatives that support client communication needs.
  • Business Development: Develop medical insights and craft the immersion section of a pitch presentation in collaboration with account and strategic planning partners. Help drive the strategic recommendations for the pitch. Serve as part of the core pitch team both internally and during live presentations. Provide recommendations on who and why your direct reports should lead a pitch and guide them during the pitch process. Support account teams with ideas for organic growth and opportunities for specialty agencies.
  • DEGREE/DIPLOMA AREA OF STUDY REQUIRED: PhD, PharmD, MD, MS

    SALARY: $210,000 - $250,000 annually

    The salary range for this position is noted within this job posting.
