Director of Accounts Receivable and Trade Finance

Roland Foods, LLC, based in New York City, is an importer and distributor of high-quality specialty food products from more than 60 countries. Founded in Paris in 1934 and established in the U.S. in 1939, the Company provides customers with exceptional specialty foods, primarily offered under the Roland brand. The company has a national presence in the foodservice, retail, and industrial channels as well as international sales in the Caribbean, Central and South America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Roland Foods' dedication to providing quality and consistency has made it a leader among food importers and suppliers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Roland Foods is currently seeking a Director of Accounts Receivable and Trade Finance. This position is responsible for collections, cash posting, and many promotional marketing, rebate, and national account deviated price programs. This position oversees 3 direct reports and a total team of 14 people.

This role is based in our New York City office and reports directly to the Controller of Roland Foods.

As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collections and Cash Posting Management:
• Manage and support team leads overseeing collections, cash posting and deductions processing/disputes, by checking in regularly, reviewing team progress, developing effective KPIs.
• Escalate delinquent accounts to customer service and sales team for cross functional collaboration, Report on the status of customer collections to Executive team.
• Oversee new customer setup and assist in determining credit terms.
• Promotional Marketing, Rebate, and Price Programs:
• Partner with Sales and Pricing teams to manage promotional marketing, rebate, and national account deviated price programs, including approving new programs in Trade Management Software (Blacksmith) and ensuring proper set up in ERP (Microsoft D365).
• Calculate, validate, and approve customer program and broker commission payments.
• Review monthly customer program accruals and reconcile related balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly trend analysis to identify unusual fluctuations in contra sales.
• General:
• Assists with external audits, including preparation of schedules and gathering of support.
• Identify and resolve process / system inefficiencies and drive process improvements; Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline operations.
• Provide guidance on complex issues and foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
• Prepare ad-hoc analysis as needed by management.
• Hire, manage, motivate, formally evaluate the performance of all direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience including Accounts Receivable and Customer Programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft D365.
• Strong understanding of promotional marketing, rebate, and pricing programs.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience performing and reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations.

Preferred

• Experience in Tableau and Power Bi.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, with outstanding attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with, manage, motivate, and support the team's staff.

SALARY RANGE

Roland Foods hires exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways Roland Foods does that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $140,000 - $160,000.

This role is bonus eligible.

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferrable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion the salary offered.
