Position Summary

The Director of Alumni and Parent Relations will build a network of University alumni and parents who support Concordia through financial support, volunteerism, and student referrals. This is a full-time position that works collaboratively with the Senior Director of Advancement Services, reports to the Vice President of Advancement, and is located on the Mequon, Wisconsin campus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Interact with alumni to assess their interest so that they will joyfully support and engage Concordia in one or more of the following ways: volunteerism, financial support, student referrals.

* Identify, train, and utilize alumni council volunteers to assist in the meaningful engagement of alumni and support of CUW and its current students.

* Organize and conduct events locally and in key regions where alumni can network and remain informed about Concordia University. Encourage, support, and provide resources to volunteer efforts related to class reunions, giving day, Homecoming, etc.

* In cooperation with the Director of the Concordia Fund, develop and implement specific strategies to raise the participation rate of support by alumni of all ages and types, including traditional, accelerated, and graduate, across all methods of giving in order to maximize a culture of philanthropy.

* Communicate systematically with alumni and parents to keep them informed and connected with the University, its mission, and goals. Regularly share the impact of gifts and student referrals.

* Work closely and cooperatively with the Advancement team, Career Engagement, Student Success, Admission, and other campus groups to accomplish the goals of the University at large, particularly in support of alumni and parents.

* Other duties as assigned

* Conduct and facilitate group sessions; prepare and deliver coherent oral presentations

* Interpersonal skills using tact and patience through oral and written communication

* Development techniques

* Budget development and management

* Build lasting relationships with alumni and parents

* Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action with multiple tasks

* Understanding of the LCMS, its structure, and historical relationship to Concordia University

* Understanding of Concordia's mission statement and ability to interpret it to all constituents

* Maintain a high level of confidentiality

* Be available for evening and weekend work as needed with some travel required

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree is required and at least three years of experience that relates directly to alumni relations, event planning, communications, fundraising, and/or sales. Alumnus of Concordia University Wisconsin preferred. Must be computer literate with an understanding of development or fundraising techniques.
