Director of Business Development at Rose-Hulman Ventures

As the Director of Business Development at Rose-Hulman Ventures you will generate and process leads for new project opportunities using a variety of methods; represent RHV at industry tradeshows, conferences, and career fairs; research and develop lead generation and prospecting tools and strategies for business development; identify market segmentations and demographic profiles for potential clients, generate targeted lists of specific companies meeting the profile, and reach out to key points of contact at those companies.
You will organize the potential project pipeline activities up to a generated proposal; perform initial technical due diligence on potential project opportunities to assess feasibility and fit; investigate technologies, comparable products in the marketplace, industry trends, relevant standards and regulations, and other information deemed relevant for the context of the potential project.
Additionally, you will direct efforts with the marketing group to position RHV in the marketplace; develop and deploy Search Engine Optimization for RHV's website; develop and deploy a social media strategy, including platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook Twitter, and others. You will work closely with the marketing department to develop content for press releases, news articles, profiles of successful projects, and other opportunities to communicate externally.
As the Director of Business Development at Rose-Hulman Ventures you will develop and support the functionality of a Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system at RHV; update and mine data and run reports; calculate and track metrics on the project pipeline in terms of numbers, of sales pitches, opportunities opened, proposals developed, projects kicked off; analyze, categorize, and suggest strategies to mitigate reasons why project opportunities are lost in the sales process.
You will serve as a member of the RHV Management team and assist with setting strategic priorities and direction for the department; help ensure departmental goals align with Institute priorities and participate in the budgeting process by identifying project needs and priorities; serve on various groups and committees and represent the vice president and department at various meetings/functions as needed.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and five to seven years of relevant work experience. Must have analytical and project/process management skills and be computer literate. Must have knowledge and experience in as many as possible, but not necessarily all, of the following areas: technical project management, leading technical project teams, requirements and scope definition, drafting proposals, planning and scheduling projects, monitoring and tracking projects, new product development, sub-contracting, and managing budgets. Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to make effective presentations and interact with a diverse group of professionals. Must be able to understand and discuss a wide variety of technical topics and the ability to read and interpret technical documents.
Preferred candidates will have a master's degree and seven years of STEM relevant work experience.
