Safe is committed to supporting individuals and families impacted by addiction through comprehensive counseling services and community education. Our mission is to not only provide treatment, but also to raise public awareness about the dangers of addiction and prevention methods.

Job Description:

The Director of Community Outreach is a key non-clinical leadership role responsible for networking with community professionals, ensuring smooth client transitions between facilities, and expanding outreach to connect more individuals with the essential support and services offered by Safe. This position is focused on building and maintaining strategic relationships with other professionals and organizations throughout New York and New Jersey to ensure that individuals in need can access the full spectrum of services available to them. The Director of Community Outreach works closely with the Clinical Team, specifically the Clinical Director and the Intake Coordinator, but is not involved in providing direct therapeutic or clinical services.

Key Responsibilities:

Networking and Relationship-Building:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with other service providers, including rehabs, detox centers, and mental health professionals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Safe and external organizations to foster collaboration and referral opportunities.
  • Attend networking events in effort to build relationships and bring awareness to Safe's services.

Client Transition Management:

  • Coordinate smooth transitions for clients moving between Safe's facility and other healthcare of community resources, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Assist clients in developing post-treatment plans and connecting with external resources as needed.

Community Outreach:

  • Lead outreach initiatives to raise awareness of Safe's services.
  • Develop and execute creative outreach plans targeting key community groups.

Resource Coordination:

  • Maintain an up-to-date directory of referral resources, ensuring clients have access to services that complement Safe's treatment modal.
  • Collaborate with Safe's staff to ensure clients are aware of, and connected, to all available resources.

Program Development:

  • Develop and manage peer support programs that enhance client recovery.
  • Meet periodically with clients to provide additional support and resources.
  • Organize or arrange training opportunities for staff to improve service delivery and client support.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete all required administrative tasks and documentation in accordance with OASAS and Safe regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to network and build relationships with community professionals and organizations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal staff and external partners.
  • Experience in outreach and community engagement, with a focus on expanding client access.
  • Creative, resourceful, and empathetic, with a strong team mentality.
  • Preference for candidates with a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or a CASAC with an active New York License (CASAC-T and eligibility for New York State CASAC license is acceptable).
  • Familiarity with 12-step and SMART Recovery models preferred
