Position Type: Administration/Director Date Posted: 11/7/2024 Location: Longview Independent School District Primary Purpose: The Director of Community Relations serves as the driving force behind Longview ISD's engagement with the community, parents, students, and local stakeholders. This position is responsible for creating, coordinating, and facilitating dynamic outreach programs, events, and initiatives that foster positive relationships and promote the district's mission. The Director will be the lead ambassador for Longview ISD, building partnerships, organizing events, and enhancing community involvement through creative and impactful outreach strategies. This role demands a highly organized, energetic leader who excels in event planning, relationship building, and strategic community engagement. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's Degree preferred in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, OR equivalent experience Special Knowledge/Skills: Event Planning Expertise: Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale events, programs, and outreach initiatives. Community Engagement: Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with parents, businesses, faith-based organizations, and other community stakeholders. Social Media Savvy: Expertise in creating and managing engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, with a focus on community engagement. AI and Content Creation: Demonstrated experience with AI tools for content curation, prompt engineering, and efficient generation of high-quality outreach materials. Public Speaking and Presentation: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent Longview ISD at events, meetings, and public forums. Leadership and Delegation: Ability to lead, train, and inspire a team of Community Relations Specialists and volunteers. Program Development: Experience in developing and implementing programs that increase student achievement and parental involvement. Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of community engagement activities, events, and outreach programs to enhance the visibility and reputation of Longview ISD. 2. Serve as the primary liaison between Longview ISD and community stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and fostering positive relationships. 3. Manage the district's social media presence, focusing on creating engaging, spontaneous, and community-focused content. 4. Develop partnerships with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and community groups to support district programs and initiatives. 5. Collaborate with campus staff to promote school events, programs, and achievements, providing guidance and support for their outreach efforts. 6. Work closely with the Communications Director to ensure all community engagement activities align with the district's marketing and communication strategies. 7. Coordinate parent involvement programs, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships to enhance student achievement and school culture. 8. Utilize AI tools to streamline content creation and event planning processes, ensuring efficient and effective communication. 9. Maintain comprehensive records of community engagement activities, partnerships, and outreach efforts, providing regular reports to district leadership. 10. Represent Longview ISD at community events, forums, and meetings, effectively communicating the district's goals, initiatives, and achievements. 11. Develop and distribute promotional materials, newsletters, and other communications to keep the community informed and engaged. 12. Stay informed of trends and best practices in community relations, event planning, and outreach strategies to continually improve Longview ISD's engagement efforts. 13.
