Description The Director of Compliance is responsible for the development, oversight, and management of compliance policies, procedures, and strategies, leading to operational compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure Barrett employees stay safe and healthy by providing specialized support and ensuring compliance in the areas of ATF, DDTC, BIS, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local agencies.This role is critical in maintaining the organization's adherence to all regulations, both domestic and international as well as promoting a culture of compliance.The Director of Compliance will work closely with all senior leaders across the organization and NIOA Group to identify, recommend, develop, and implement the company's strategic plan and lead our ATF, Import/Export, and HSE teams.Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Position Director of Safety and Compliance Position Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Act as Empowered Official for ITAR/DDTC and SAM registrations.Collaborate with all senior leaders and executives within the business & Group to ensure that business activities align with the Group and Business strategy.Delivers & implements the strategic plan activities ensuring delivery and of the objectives with the area of control.Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on international trade compliance regulations, product certifications, and quality control processes.Establish and maintain primary relationships with regulatory agencies, particularly the ATF, BIS & DDTC. Interact with functional leaders and teams to ensure compliant practices and procedures are followed.Oversee day-to-day operations of the ATF compliance program, and US State Dept export compliance program, ensuring effective execution and management of compliance activities.Ensures regulatory compliance for firearms manufacturing activities under the GCA, NFA, and AECA, including import and export matters.Identify, lead, and implement policy and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of all compliance systems.Monitor and assess compliance performance continuously, taking necessary steps to improve effectiveness and mitigate risks.Consults with Legal Counsel to resolve complex legal compliance issues and ensure that they are kept up to date with all regulatory changes.Develop and implement long-term strategies to sustain the organization's ATF and export compliance function.Oversee implementation, and review the organization's Export Compliance Program, ATF Compliance Program and HSE Plan.Qualifications RequirementsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.5+ years of relevant experience in US export compliance and/or ATF ComplianceIn-depth knowledge and understanding of ATF regulations, including the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), and the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) implemented by the Department of State's International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and the Department of Commerce's Export Administration Regulations (EAR), is essential. Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local firearms and explosives laws and regulations is also necessary.Knowledge of OSHA Logs, HazCom, and Training LogsU.S. CitizenApplicant cannot be a Prohibited Person as defined by The Gun Control Act, The Arms Export Control Act, or any other local, state, or federal statute or regulationEducation and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in relevant field.Master's degree Preferred.Language SkillsProfessional English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.TravelWillingness to work a flexible schedule.
