Director of Construction

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in over-all day-today operational leadership and decision-making as the subject matter expert for all project quality management functions including self-performed work, materials or work performed by suppliers, vendors, subcontractors
  • Provide ongoing and regular quality control related technical input for construction planning, interpretation of design, development of efficient construction methods and quality controls processes for execution of the work
  • Manage and schedule all required quality testing, inspections and documentation including all third-party quality control related service
  • Formulate detailed budget plans, monitoring expenditure for all project-related costs, including property acquisition, infrastructure development, and construction
  • Provide overall leadership to ensure work is constructed in compliance and work quality is accurately documented through clear and traceable record keeping and reporting
  • Provide ongoing and regular quality control related technical input for construction planning, interpretation of design, development of efficient construction methods and quality controls processes for execution of the work
  • Develop and implement project specific Quality Control Plan that meets company policies, project requirements and is aligned with industry standards and best practices
  • Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed
  • Develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities
  • Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing risk on the project
  • Ensure that construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule
  • Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
  • Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in heavy civil construction
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, able to communicate with all levels of staff and management
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a successful completed project
  • Strong computer skills in Office 365, CAD, Microsoft Project or
