Title: Director of Construction, Site Safety Plans & ProgramsReports To: Executive Vice PresidentDepartment: Construction SafetyPosition OverviewThe Director of Construction, Site Safety Plans & Programs is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, coordination, and development of comprehensive Construction Safety Plans and Construction Logistics Plans. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA, NYC Building Code - Chapter 33, FDNY, DOT, and other applicable safety standards. The Director serves as the primary liaison between clients and the NYC Department of Buildings, ensuring that all safety requirements are met and that projects progress smoothly and safely.Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Management
  • Lead and Manage Safety Design Coordinators: Provide direction, guidance, and support to a team of Safety Design Coordinators, ensuring they are equipped to develop and implement effective safety plans.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic safety initiatives that align with company goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the budgeting process for safety planning and logistics, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
2. Safety Plan Development
  • Safety Plan Design: Lead the creation and design of Construction Safety Plans and Construction Logistics Plans, ensuring they meet or exceed all regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all safety plans comply with OSHA, NYC Building Code - Chapter 33, FDNY, DOT, and other relevant regulations. Regularly review and update safety plans to maintain compliance with evolving standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam to create, review, and refine construction safety plans and logistics diagrams, ensuring precision and clarity in all designs.
3. Client & Regulatory Liaison
  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison between clients and the NYC Department of Buildings, facilitating communication and ensuring that all safety requirements are understood and met.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure timely approvals and compliance with all safety-related requirements.
  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing them with regular updates on safety plans and ensuring their satisfaction with the safety planning process.
4. Training & Development
  • Staff Training: Develop and implement training programs for Safety Design Coordinators and other relevant staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about current safety regulations and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices by staying informed about industry trends and innovations and integrating them into the company's safety programs.
5. Reporting & Documentation
  • Documentation Management: Ensure that all safety plans, risk assessments, and related documentation are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit all required safety reports to regulatory agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
  • Performance Metrics: Track and report on key performance indicators related to safety plan implementation and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing safety plans and programs.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
Key Competencies
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NYC Building Code - Chapter 33, FDNY, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage large-scale safety planning projects from inception to completion.
