Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummaryThe Director of Cross Border Services is responsible for leading and growing the cross-border business unit, specializing in flatbed, Conestoga, open deck, heavy haul, and oversized transportation. This strategic role involves managing end-to-end operations to achieve business goals, ensuring optimal performance, and delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience. The Director will foster collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders, driving innovation and efficiency to enhance service delivery. The role demands extensive industry expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of business growth and team developmentDuties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Cross-Border Business Unit: Oversee all operations of the cross-border business, including flatbed, Conestoga, open deck, heavy haul, cross-border, and oversized shipments, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, implementing workforce strategies to optimize skills, improve team efficiency, and right-size staffing levels.
  • Operational Efficiency & Scalability: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and scale services in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Foster Innovation & Collaboration: Cultivate an environment that encourages open communication, feedback, and idea-sharing, leading to high team morale and increased motivation.
  • Customer Experience Optimization: Continuously improve operational processes to enhance customer experience, service quality, and drive revenue growth.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments to create synergies and provide industry-specific guidance and support for integrated business solutions.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth: Promote business growth by leveraging market trends, transportation capabilities, and industry assets to drive sales and expand service offerings.
  • Carrier Relations & Capacity Planning: Develop and manage relationships with carriers, ensuring sustainable growth, optimized capacity, and long-term operational success.
  • Strategic Planning & Reporting: Set strategic action plans and monitor progress toward meeting business and financial objectives.
  • Other Duties: Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the organization's cross-border operations and growth goals.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
  • Basic problem-solving abilities to handle disruptions in shipping schedules or other logistics issues.
  • Accuracy in tracking shipments, updating records, and managing documentation.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and service skills with the ability to always uphold professionalism respectful treatment of peers and customers. Take personal responsibility and keep commitments.
  • The ability to quickly adjust to new conditions, priorities, or challenges in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written comprehension skills.
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver on KPIs and data driven decision.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a similar field. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Freight Brokerage Sales and Operations (6+ years).
  • Experience managing teams (5+ years).
  • Cross-border, Mexico knowledge and experience.
  • Team leadership and performance management experience
  • A deep understanding of the industry; customers, carriers, and competitors.
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) Experience. McLeod preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to sit in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ongoing computer usage and typing. Specific vision abilities and fine manipulation required.
  • Frequent human interactions require listening, expressing, and exchanging ideas verbally and written.
  • Cognitive skills needed to complete tasks (e.g., learning, problem-solving, comprehending).
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Light to moderate noise levels (i.e., business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic).
  • Light lifting up to 20 pounds may be required.
