Brief Job Description:

The Director has a broad scope of responsibilities and services related to capturing, extracting, analyzing, and displaying data for performance improvement and operations of the state hospitals (SHs). This leadership position supervises the Data Analytics staff who are the subject matter experts (SME) for the SHs in relation to data extraction, reports, EHR, and data integrity. This position also serves as the SME for data analysis and trains and consults with SHs, upper management, and other divisions in the agency.

Performs other duties as assigned, including participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

  • Oversees the development and implementation of SHs data systems and corresponding evaluation systems.
  • Performs advanced managerial work providing direction and guidance to state hospital data analytics staff.
  • Oversees performance improvement reports/analyses and operational reports.
  • Serves as key contact staff providing aggregate data and information to various stakeholders.
  • Acts as liaison between the SHs and IT.

    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of SAS and electronic health records.
  • Proficient in software such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Crystal Reports, and Tableau.
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff.

    • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with three years of psychiatric hospital experience OR graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a relevant field.
  • Thirty-six months experience in data analysis and/or quality assurance.
  • Twelve months experience working with electronic health records.

    • Additional Information:

    Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. Compliance with HHSC immunization policy is required.
