The Job/What You'll Do:

AssetMark empowers advisor growth through flexible, integrated technology; exceptional service and consulting; compelling wealth solutions. The Director of Data Application will own the application and usage of data accuracy across to organization to drive project execution speed, quality, and data integrity through mapping the golden source of data for each organizational need. The success candidate will source data mapping for all software development/project teams, business intelligence teams, and leadership needs across the organization. The Director of Data Application will have extensive expertise in investment, custody , workflow, CRM, financial metrics, and other enterprise data needs. Expertise in these areas is needed to extend to data sources, data lineage, investment reporting workflows, and calculations used for holdings, gain/loss, performance, and customer records. This position requires expert documentation skills, problem-solving skills, proven experience applying control structures, superior communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and workloads to accelerate software development and business/operational intelligence reporting.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to one of our following offices: Concord, CA or Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities:

  • Single point of contact for enterprise data mapping including ownership and stewardship of data quality acceptance standards such as data sources, accuracy, timeliness, validity, completeness, utilization, and availability of data
  • Create documentation, curriculum, job aids, and training materials to use with agile and development teams for data mapping, sign-off/approvals, and to emphasize the significance of data quality at every phase of our development life cycle
  • Undertake complicated data profiling and data quality analysis and convey results clearly to help business understanding of problems and effects
  • Participate in and influence the development of a data quality roadmap that optimizes people, processes, and technology to raise our data quality maturity level
  • Support the development of the roles and duties of our data stewards and business owners
  • Assure that information and data are handled in line with accepted laws, rules, and policies
  • Assist with the establishment, upkeep, and control of taxonomies, ensuring they are applicable to content and/or data
  • Encourage the application of metadata standards by supporting awareness and training for agile teams
  • Create data transformation rules, data lineage documentation, and metadata documentation for important programs and initiatives
  • Create a model for reference data management
  • Collaborate with other departments, divisions, or projects to achieve shared goals
  • Ensure that data quality requirements are routinely satisfied and represented in KPIs by influencing the delivery of numerous execution/agile teams

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of relevant analytics or data management expertise
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment and can effectively prioritize, manage, and identify risk
  • Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, report and communicate data quickly and effectively
  • Expertise with data analysis/querying software like Python, SAS, or SQL
  • Knowledge of programming languages, tools, and methodologies for data management
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of data quality, such as profiling, rules generation, validation, outlier detection, monitoring, alerting & notification, and stewardship workflow for data remediation
  • Practical experience using data quality products including PowerBI, Talend, Abinitio, IBM InfoSphere, and Informatica
  • Experience creating data quality standards, guidelines, and best practices and applying them into governance practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of business rules, data linkages, and overall data models
  • Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to gather, arrange, organize, and communicate a substantial amount of information with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Prior leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Expertise in data and analytics
  • Ability to clearly convey ideas, designs, and concepts and to modify communication according to the audience
  • Ability to make a compelling argument for change by combining storytelling, data visualization, and data management expertise.
  • Superior written and verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to identify and analyze data and business problems of moderate complexity on their own
  • Ability to manage risks, pinpoint problems, find solutions, and escalate problems as required
  • Created and maintained data-related documentation for complex business with multiple legacy systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years' experience in Enterprise Data Management

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $180,000-$200,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
