Description:Under the guidance of the Assistant City Manager, the Director of Development Services plans, directs, manages, leads and oversees the activities and operations of the Development Services Department. Responsibilities include oversight of the complete development process, property maintenance enforcement, grant administration, business and contractor licensing, city-wide central building services and economic development incentive programs. Coordinates projects with City departments and outside agencies. Provides support to City officials, boards and commissions. Serves as a member of the Management Team. As a representative of management, supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and decisions of the department and City.Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field of study required
  • Professional registration or certification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Planning, Code Enforcement or related field required
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' increasingly responsible management experience in community or an economic development related field(s) required
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a leadership position required
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator's license and acceptable driving record required
  • Experience in local government administration preferred
  • Must live within the City Limits of Lee's Summit or establish residency within 12 months of hire
