Posting DetailsPosition Information Position Title Director of Developmental Studies Job Description Job Purpose: The Developmental Studies Director is a full-time, 12-month position that provides academic support and developmental services to promote the success of Mississippi Valley State University Students. Accountability:The Developmental Studies Director will report directly to the Executive Director for University College and will work closely with the University College Team and collaborate with other key departments on campus. Essential Job Functions: Oversee, manage, monitor, and evaluate Academic Support Laboratory Courses Oversee, manage, monitor, and evaluate the Basic Reading Skills Course Administer the ACCUPLACER Placement Test to students who will need to take the test Work closely with Retention and Student Success and Quality Enhancement Plan Departments to prepare required programmatic and statistical reports Work closely with the Academic Support Team members who work with EMAP (Early Monitoring Alert Program) to track and monitor at-risk students ensuring quality assistance in conjunction with supervising Summer Developmental Math, English, Reading Instructors, night staff monitors, and student workers Oversee and manage departmental operational budget Recruit, train, and oversee summer bridge peer tutors Recruit incoming Mississippi Valley State University New Students for the MVSU Summer Bridge Program Serve on the University College Leadership Team and is a member of the University Extended Cabinet Coordinate with different departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the office Help establish and enforce office policies and procedures to ensure a productive and harmonious work environment Will take the lead in organizing office events and meetings May assist with human resources-related tasks such as the onboarding process and maintain personnel records for new employees. Other duties assigned by the Executive Director of University CollegeRequired Qualifications Master's degree Required 3 to 5 years of management experience Teaching experience in classroom teaching/management, working with academic coaching for at-risk students Strong time management and people skills, high degree of flexibility, and excellent multitasking ability Demonstrated experience in student services or counseling in a post-secondary academic environment.
