Job Description :

The RN Director's role is supporting the agency's mission and vision. Manages and supports the Education and Training Department in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the education, clinical competency and orientation program for Hudson Valley hospice staff. Oversees the delivery, tracking and scheduling of educational programs, and management of educational resources. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversight of the initial employee orientation program, continuing employee education, and clinical competency activities.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the initial orientation program for all new hires, students or contracted staff and ensures they meet compliance standards.
  • Ensures the development and delivery of monthly educational programs for RNs, LPNs and HHAs.
  • Responds to educational needs of the organization by overseeing the development and training for new processes or equipment or in response to knowledge deficits identified through the QI program.
  • Stays abreast of latest trends and best practice in end-of-life care and participates in the dissemination of this information to staff.
  • Collaborates with the education team in maintaining a resource library and electronic intranet system.
  • Stays current on Hudson Valley Hospice policies & procedures as well as Federal, State, and Local regulations and accrediting body standards.
  • Collaborates with the clinical staff team to develop policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, evidence-based care, and standards of practice.
  • Ensures the completion of electronic medical record (EMR) training for staff, including identifying training needs and assisting with development of training materials.
  • Assists in the evaluation of regulations and standards impact on the EMR to improve clinical documentation and survey readiness for ongoing accrediting body certification.
  • Ensures regulations and standards are considered and integrated into EMR design and implementation.
  • Collaborates with clinical managers to improve documentation standards of care, related to policies and procedures.

  • Works in assigned settings, patient/family homes and community agencies.
  • Exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Travel by car.
  • Ability to carry up to twenty-five pounds of supplies and/or materials used to provide community education.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Current registration as an RN in New York State.
  • BSN required - preferred MSN and Certified as a Hospice Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) or obtain certification within two years of employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience required home care experience preferred, previous Hospice experience preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and insurance.
