Western Illinois University serves nearly 7,500 students at its traditional, residential campus in Macomb, IL and its metropolitan, non-residential branch campus in Moline, IL.Job Description:APPOINTMENT: January 1, 2025RESPONSIBILITIES: Western Illinois University (WIU), Office of Human Resources (OHR) is comprised of various inter-departments and functions including Employment, Classification and Compensation, Policy, Benefits, Employee Recognition, Equal Opportunity and Access, and Title IX. This position will supervise multiple full-time programs that capture the total employee experience. Primary duties and responsibilities include leadership over Professional Development and Performance Management plans for Western's campus community, as well as the supervision of WIU's Title IX compliance. This position will have a critical role in integrating the university's diversity efforts and assisting in implementing strategies and establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in various programs. Duties include developing and implementing strategies, policies, and programs that promote employee growth, equitable treatment, and high performance. The Director of Employee Learning and Engagement will also work to support the University's goals to foster and promote an inclusive workplace culture.RANK & SALARY: $80,000 to $105,000; commensurate with experience. Western Illinois University offers a competitive benefits package including domestic partner benefits.Requirements:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on performance management, professional Development, or a related area.
  • Extensive knowledge of performance management principles and practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven leadership and the ability to foster a positive team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically to develop and implement effective performance management and professional Development strategies.
  • Proficiency in analyzing performance data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Experience with HR software and systems.PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
    • Professional work experience in higher education.For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).
