The School of Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Finance and Strategy to join their team.
POSITION PURPOSEThe Director of Finance and Strategy at the UW School of Social Work serves as the primary fiscal director to support internal and external funding operations within the School as well as supporting growth for strategic partnerships that intersect with the School of Social Work. The director oversees the fiscal and programmatic integration of State of WA activities with the educational mission of the School of Social Work for its 3 primary degree programs.
POSITION COMPLEXITIESThe position is key in advancing social work activities by overseeing major operations of external facing centers. The Director reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration to ensure that integration of statewide and national programs is in alignment with University of Washington and School of Social Work operational and fiscal requirements. The Director will have the ability to partner with UW School of Social Work executive leadership, SSW academic program directors, and faculty leadership on programmatic needs for funding potential within the State of WA and to explore other strategic partnerships that advance social work education and activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Statewide Strategy Planning & Program ImplementationStrategy Planning
Provides high level of operational expertise through analysis and interpretation of data gathered for decision support.Supports UWSSW executive leadership with information to support data driven decisions to achieve strategic goals.Develops and provides comprehensive financial, statistical, and business analyses, business and financial forecasting, and financial modeling.Creates presentations for statewide use to advance statewide partnerships and strategy.Works collaboratively with UWSSW leadership on budget development annually as it intersects with statewide programs including the Alliance and CWTAP.Participates in annual budget development for the School of Social Work in collaboration with the UWSSW executive team and the Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration as requested.Responds to ad hoc data requests by SSW leadership.Program Implementation
Works with direct reports to provide financial oversight on statewide programs that target social work training and education.Analyzes reports prepared by others in the University and evaluate their impact on the School.Participates in the university-wide year-end audit reporting process for contract compliance.Develops key metrics to measure and report on evolving strategic planning goals from the School of Social Work.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field.Five years of experience working in a University financial setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis on budget, operational, and fiscal management).ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be skilled in creating and using complex MS Excel spreadsheets and other information systems for financial management.Must also be experienced with using MS Word, and MS Powerpoint.Ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data and communicate clearly to faculty and staff.Must possess an understanding of complex business practices that include state budget process cycles, self-sustaining entities, and UW fiscal management.Committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff, the University of Washington will honor your experiences, perspectives and unique identity.
