With a team of 50 dedicated professionals, we pride ourselves on our unwavering dedication to our clients, inclusive culture, and commitment to professional growth.Position Overview:Based in our Raleigh, NC office, the Director of Finance will oversee the financial operations and functions of the firm, working closely with our partners and the Director of Administration to drive financial performance and support the firm's profitability and growth.This role is critical in ensuring that the firm's financial practices are timely, accurate, optimized for efficiency, and comply with applicable laws and legal ethics rules.The Director of Finance will manage accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash management, and provide insights on key metrics and trends.This position will lead a small team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.Reporting Relationship:The person filling this position will report directly to the firm's Finance Partner and other partners, and will collaborate with the Director of Administration to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Key Responsibilities: - Accounting and Finance:
- Act as primary liaison between attorneys, billing staff, clients, and vendors to ensure seamless financial operations
- Track, analyze, and report on accounts receivable trends, coordinating with attorneys to drive collections and provide updates as needed
- Track and report on attorney productivity
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the firm's budget in collaboration with the firm's partners
- Oversee payment of vendors and other expenses
- Complete month and year-end closings and calculate partner distributions and bonuses
- Support internal committees (including Budget, Compensation, Recruiting, and Retirement) with data, analysis, and modeling - Banking and Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow and manage reserves to maintain optimal liquidity
- Manage ACH and wire transfers
- Supervise internal control and fraud prevention measures
- Manage the firm's banking relationship(s)
- Supervise firm trust account(s) to ensure compliance with Bar requirements
- Prepare annual tax package for external CPA's and support preparation of annual income tax return; manage annual 1099/1096 filings
- Prepare and file annual property tax returns
- Oversee annual testing of retirement plans and coordinate reporting and plan changesTeam Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Identify and promote professional development and training opportunities within the finance department
